Mary Ann Beyster attended the 9th Annual STTR/SBIR Small Business Conference hosted by the Alabama A&M University Research Institute (AAMURI) at the Knight Center on the university campus. Conference sponsors include SAIC, Boeing, US Army, & AAMURI.
This forum is intended for small businesses and scientists seeking funding for exploratory projects who want to learn how to initiate such projects and build partnerships. The US Department of Defense (Army, Air Force, Navy, and DARPA), NASA, NIH, and NSF representatives were present to discuss funding opportunities for SBIR/STTR. Researchers from various universities, small businesses, and program managers from industry also attended the event for team building and joint proposal development.
Mary Ann Beyster was the luncheon speaker on Tuesday, January 27, 2009. The topic of her presentation was "An Owner's view: Inventing and Marketing Technical Solutions by Creating an Organizational Culture Based on Ownership and Entrepreneurship."
