We started in San Diego with two private receptions. This was a great way to have direct time with people who helped grow SAIC. On Thursday, April 19th, Warwick’s held a book signing. Susan McBeth, Warwick’s events coordinator, began with introductions. Dr. Beyster followed with a few words on the book’s key principles such as the benefits of employee ownership. He and Peter Economy signed books until 9:00p.m. The signing was a sell out. Over one hundred people attended.
The following week, SAIC hosted a wonderful reception at Campus Point. Over 200 people attended this reception, which included short presentations and book signing. There were new and long-time employee, former employees, and a few potential next generation employees. During it all, recent photos from the March McLean reception at SAIC as well as older photos from the history of SAIC were showing on two large screens as a slideshow.
On Friday, April 23rd, UCSD held a Founder’s Panel forum with Dr. Beyster, Dr. Gene Ray and Dr. Tom Dillon, as moderator. The event was hosted by the UCSD Rady School of Management and the Beyster Institute. Over 120 people attended at the Pepper Canyon Hall including students from the Rady School and other UCSD schools, faculty, SAIC-ers, and SAIC community members. The discussions lasted over 90 minutes. They provided practical advice to those wanted to learn how they too could start and grow billion dollar technology companies—like SAIC and Titan. A taping of the panel discussion will be aired on UCSD-TV on Monday, June 25 at 8 pm and UCTV at 11 pm. All air dates are:
